Queer Sexuality- Myths Busted 14

(This post is a part of the series Queer Sexuality-Myths Busted. A small, not all inclusive research project i did in college. I am hereby presenting a few portions of that research work so that more and more people become aware of Queer Sexuality and start seeing it in positive light.)


Queer is not new to the humans. Our sacred texts, our gods and heroes have all seen it and been a part of it. The matter of the fact is that we are not able to find out the true roots of queer sexuality.

Queer something that has always been a part of the all the living creations of god. Not only humans, but animals from all phylum exhibit a similar homosexual behavior, which makes queer not only natural but acceptable as well.

Moreover, there are no evidences that suggest that queer sexuality or alternate sexual orientation is a disease of the mind or the body. There are medically proven differences between the genetic makeup, physiological structure and mental makeup of the traditional and alternate sexuality, but the difference is not as great that could make it a strong evidence against queer being a crime.

Mostly, we find that queer is nothing but a matter of individual preferences in adulthood that are gained through either a natural orientation or certain sexual or asexual experiences i.e. the conditioning in the childhood. Therefore, there are no reasons to condemn the queer community for being who they are.

Another point to be noticed is that the queer people never stay behind their counterparts. In fact they are found to be more creatively driven and intellectual according to some studies. This proves that it is almost worthless judging people and their qualities on the basis of their sexuality.
Most of the people consider the queer community as a group of sex hungry people who have lost all their morals and ethics to a worthless desire. This however is no true. One's sexual preferences do not define the capabilities or caliber of a person in other fields of life. Therefore there should be no discrimination and the people should learn to tolerate something that is not usual.

There are certain things in life that may not be usual or common, but are completely natural. One such thing is the queer community. No wonders that our cinema has taken one step ahead in showing the pain and the lives of these people. A large part of the media sits unaware of the hot topic that they are discussing. In most of the debates that take place over news channels, we normally find numerous people sitting together, having conflicting views, who talk more about their personal perceptions rather than the concrete facts that should rule the conversation.

In most cases, we find a noisy clatter of people who start from scratch and land back again at scratch. Therefore, it is essential for us to understand what we are talking about and as responsible media personalities, it not only is our right to know all about what we are doing, but also our duty in playing our part as saviors to a global movement for the right of the queer community.

The medical Queer

“The sexual struggle is of two kinds: in the one it is between the individuals of the same sex, generally the males, in order to drive away or kill their rivals, the females remaining passive; while in the other, the struggle is likewise between the individuals of the same sex, in order to excite or charm those of the opposite sex, generally the females, which no longer remain passive, but select the more agreeable partners”
Charles Darwin 1871


A theory about the development of sexual orientation and sexual arousal suggests that these behavior patterns are learned unconsciously from asexual experiences during childhood. The learning begins when the child distinguishes between men and women by the pitch of their voice. Using it, the brain develops mental images of ‘man’ and ‘woman’ that consist of features typical to men and women in the child’s surroundings. Throughout childhood, relying on asexual experiences, the brain continues to develop the patterns of sexual behavior around those mental images. After puberty, behavior patterns that were learned from sexual experiences are added to those learned from asexual experiences during childhood.

Differentiation of some brain structures has been correlated with sexual orientation. For instance, the size of the INAH-3, which is a part of the hypothalamus, a brain area that among other things controls physical aspects of sexual activity, is larger in gay men than in heterosexual men and women. The hypothalamus also reacts to certain chemical compounds in accordance with the sexual orientation of the individual. The amygdala, a brain area involved in emotional activities such as fear, was found to be involved in sexual activities. The inner eat shows sex and sexual orientation differentiations. The cochleae of human females are 8-13% shorter than those of males. Otoacoustic emission (OAE), which is sound generated by the cochlea in response to external sound, was found to have sex differences even in newborns, and in adult women such differences correlate with sexual orientation.

Voice is generated and detected by genetically controlled organs, which are sex differentiated. It is robust and universal– it is one of the most reliable and commonly used cues for detecting the sex of a person. The distinction between men’s and women’s voices is based on differences in sound frequencies. Those are detected and processed by the inner ear and by the auditory neural networks, which project that information to various brain areas. It was found that concentration of sex hormones affects the development and connectivity of neural networks, and thus the outcomes of information that they process.

The root cues of human voice are sufficient, but not necessary, for the development of sexual orientation. Other cues may also play a role. For instance, after puberty, other root cues that depend on experiencing sexual pleasures come into play. Also, in deaf children, other mechanisms, which are still unexplored, replace the reliance on sound.

In addition to sensory cues, also arousal cues contribute to the identification of targets of sexual attraction. It was suggested that a combination of two innate emotions, fear and the feeling of safety, is a root cue of sexual arousal. These emotions are genetic, universal and robust. In general, their combination creates excitement. For example, the excitement of riding a roller coaster or driving a fast car is attributed to a combination of the feelings of fear and safety. Analysis has shown that a common thread of many sexual fantasies and behaviors is a combination of those emotions.

Queer Animal Kingdom

There is documented evidence of  homosexual or transgender behavior of one or more of the following kinds: sex, courtship, affection, pair bonding, or parenting,They must realise that animals can have sex with who they will, when they will and without consideration to a researcher's ethical principles. Homosexual behavior is found amongst social birds and mammals, particularly the sea mammals and the primates. Animal sexual bahvior takes many different forms, even within the same species and the motivations for and implications of their behaviors have yet to be fully understood.

Bagemihl's research shows that homosexual behavior, not necessarily sex, has been observed in close to 1500 species, ranging from primates to gut worms, and is well documented for 500 of them. Homosexuality in animals is seen as controversial by because it asserts the naturalness of homosexuality in humans, while others counter that it has no implications and is nonsensical to equate animal behavior to morality. Animal preference and motivation is always inferred from behavior. Thus homosexual behavior has been given a number of terms over the years. The correct usage of the term homosexual is that an animal exhibits homosexual behavior, however this article conforms to the usage by modern research applying the term homosexuality to all sexual behavior (copulation, genital stimulation, mating games and sexual display behavior) between animals of the same sex.

Some commonly known animals who display homosexual behavior are dogs, cats, cheetah, brown bear, african elephant, african lion, brown rat, dolphin, chicken, emu, penguin, grayling fish, salmon fish a wide range or insects and reptiles including lizards, cockroaches and monarch butterflies.

Homosexual or bisexual activity also occurs between gods, although such interactions are most usually considered purely ritualistic, or have purposes other than sexual pleasure. Agni, the god of fire, wealth and creative energy, has same-sex sexual encounters that involve accepting semen from other gods. Although married to the goddess Svaha, Agni is also shown as being part of a same sex couple with Soma, the god of the moon. Agni takes a receptive role in this relationship, accepting semen from Soma with his mouth, paralleling Agni's role in accepting sacrifices from Earth to Heaven. Orthodox Hinduism emphasises that these are "mithuna", ritual sexual encounters, and Agni and his mouth represent the feminine role.

In the Shiva Purana and the Ramayana, the gods fear the outcome of Shiva and Parvati's "unending embrace," and interrupt their coitus. Shiva then appears before the gods and declares "now let him step forward who will accept the semen I discharge". At the prompting of the gods, Agni captures Shiva's semen in his hands and swallows it. In these stories, Parvati and Shiva condemn Agni's actions, calling them "wicked" or "improper." In the eleventh century text Kathasaritsagara, however, Shiva forces the reluctant Agni to receive his semen.The semen causes a burning sensation in those that ingest it, prompting Agni to divest it into wives of a group of sages, under Shiva's advice.

This is just the indian mythology. The Greeco-Roman mythology is full of such instances of queer relationships between gods and heroes. They not only neter a sexual but also an amorous romantic love. Moreover they have also been assigned with patron gods. For example, Dionysus is the patron god of transvestites, while Aphrodite along with the Erotes: Eros, Himeros and Pothos form the trinity of homoerotic love.

Changes of sex and cross-dressing also occur in myths about non-divine figures. One such figure is Shikhandi a character in the Mahabharata. He was originally born as a girl named 'Shikhandini' to Drupada the king of Panchala. In a previous lifetime, Shikandini was a woman named Amba, who was rendered unmarriageable by the hero Bhishma. Humiliated, Amba undertook great austerities, and the gods granted her wish to be the cause of Bhishma's death. Amba was then reborn as Shikhandini. 

A divine voice told Drupada to raise Shikhandini as a son; so Drupada raised her like a man, trained her in warfare and arranged for her to marry a female. On the wedding night, Shikhandini's wife discovered that her "husband" was female, and insulted her. Shikhandini fled, but met a yaksha who exchanged his sex with her. Shikhandini returned as a man with the name 'Shikhandi' and led a happy married life with his wife and children. During the Kurukshetra war, Bhishma recognised him as Amba reborn and refused to fight 'a woman'. Accordingly Arjuna hid behind Shikhandi in order to defeat the almost invincible Bhishma. In the Javanese telling, Srikandi (as she is known) never becomes a man, but is a woman equal to men, and is the wife of Arjuna. After his death, Shikhandi's masculinity was transferred back to the yaksha.

The story of Ila, a king cursed by Shiva and Parvati to be a man one month and a woman the next, appears in several traditional Hindu texts. After changing sex, Ila loses the memory of being the other gender. During one such period, Ila marries Budha (the god of the planet Mercury). Although Budha knows of Ila's alternating gender, he doesn't enlighten the 'male' Ila, who remains unaware of his life as a woman. The two live together as man and wife only when Ila is female. In the Ramayana version, Ila bears Budha a son, although in the Mahabharata Ila is called both mother and father of the child. After this birth the curse is lifted and Ila is totally changed into a man who goes on to father several children with his wife.

Religious and Mythological references to Queer

In the next few posts we will read about the religious and mythological references to queer. 
Traditional Hindu literary sources do not speak of homosexuality directly, but changes of sex, homoerotic encounters, and inter sex or third gender characters are often found both in traditional religious narratives such as the Vedas, Mahabharata, Ramayana and Puranas as well as in regional folklore.

Hindu mythology has many examples of deities changing gender, manifesting as different genders at different times, or combining to form androgynous or hermaphroditic beings. Gods change sex or manifest as an Avatar f the opposite sex in order to facilitate sexual congress. Non-divine beings also undergo sex-changes through the actions of the gods, as the result of curses or blessings, or as the natural outcome of reincarnation.

Hindu mythology contains numerous incidents where sexual interactions serve a non-sexual, sacred purpose; in some cases, these are same-sex interactions. Sometimes the gods condemn these interactions but at other times they occur with their blessing.

Many deities in Hinduism and Indian mythology are represented as both male and female at different times and in different incarnations or may manifest with characteristics of both genders at once, such as Ardhanarishwara, created by the merging of the god Shiva and his consort Parvati. The name Ardhanarishvara means "The Lord whose half is a woman"

A similar merger occurs between the beauty and prosperity goddess Lakshmi and her husband Vishnu, forming the hermaphrotitic or androgynous Lakshmi-Narayana. In the Bhagvat Purana Vishnu takes the form of the enchantress, Mohini, in order to trick the demons into giving up Amrita- the elixir of life. He cites another story to show that only Vishnu has the power to "enchant" Shiva: a demon tries to kill Shiva by taking the form of a woman (placing sharp teeth in "his" vagina). Shiva recognizes the impostor and kills the demon by the placing a "thunderbolt" on his "manhood" during their act of "lovemaking"

What exactly is Queer sexuality?

Queer is an umbrella term that is used to define the various types of alternative sexualities in the society. Typically, we have known of two types of sexualities. The first being heterosexuality and the other being alternate or queer sexuality. The term queer not only involves the most popular queer .i.e. homosexuals but also a wide range of other sexual orientations.

The various classifications of queer sexualities stand as follows:

Homosexuals (gay and lesbian), bisexuals, bi-curious, transgenders, cross-dressers, trans-sexuals, drag kings and drag queens along with a huge population of asexual and hermaphrodites, third genders etc.

All the above mentioned groups normally identify as queer community. These people have formed associations and action groups that work for the favor and welfare of the queer community. With the increase in the conflict between 'normal' society and 'queer' society, there are a number of people who have come out in the defense of the queer community. These are mostly heterosexuals who have no queer desires and openly support the queer in their mission and struggle for freedom.

The 'gender' and 'sexuality'  question

There is a big contrast when it comes to identifying gender and sexuality. Gender refers to the age old notion that has been followed by the world, while sexuality essentially is a western concept.

The difference between two is however very simple. Gender refers to the genital or reproductive structure that a person is biologically born with. On the other hand, sexuality is a matter of sexual preferences i.e. what or who is defined as an object of sexual gratification and amorous love in a person. Sexual orientation is thus the name given to a person's sexual preferences.

Hence, we can find that He is born a man, i.e. his gender is male. He practices homosexuality i.e. his sexuality and he is a gay, i.e. a term given to  a male practising homosexuality. He can even be a male who is heterosexual. Likewise, we can take the example of women as well. She is born a female, is a homosexual and identifies as a lesbian.

In the eastern societies there has always been the presence of the 'third gender'  commonly known as 'hijras' or 'eunuchs' as far as the indian society is concerned. They are either asexual or castrated males who live in distinct communities and places. No wonders, they are all a part of the mainstream indian society and are nowhere regarded as sick or diseased. However, they still remain a mystery to the normal indian people.

‘Queer Sexuality : Myths Busted’   takes into account various references from mythology and the popular global culture showing that the queer community was always present there and these people  have been treated as a part and parcel of the society.

This has also been an issue that both the groups are fighting with each other without any concrete knowledge on both the sides. While the queer community is forced by the desire to live as they wish and get respected for who they are, the 'normal' people mostly fight for the soul reason of not really understanding what the queer people want and also because of a feeling of disgust for the queer sexual behavior.

During the making of this project I went to a lot of queer communities and tried to interact with them to find out what do they feel about sexuality issues. They also helped me a lot to find out various references of queer in the mythology and the cinema.

The main process of this research work as to stay in touch with the queer and understand their aims, goals etc. and see if they differ in any way. I went to the GAY PRIDE PARADE and the GAY PRIDE FILM FESTIVAL to understand the psyche of the queer for themselves and for the rest of the world.

More than 4 months ranging from November 2010 to March 2011 were spent with the queer community, watching movies and interacting with them regularly. I was astonished to find that they were wonderful, intelligent people who were more aware of their rights and duties than any commoner.

I went through all the public modes of expression that the queer community uses and tried to understand their communication that they want to send to the world. They do not look for any special privileges, they just want that no discrimination should be posed against them in any way or the other. Going to the gay pride parade and the gay pride film festival was another step in the same direction. I came out as a queer to the world and I found out what sarcasm, what pain they have to feel publically and in general.

 However, during my own study I found out that queer sexuality is actually being hated by all and that nobody actually realizes what they do. The fear of queer is actually the fear of anything new. My analysis plan was to basically go through each and everything that was regarded as queer supportive texts and chronicles and see whether they really hold any ground.

The research assumes that queer sexuality is misinterpreted as a totally western concept that has nothing to do with the Indian culture or society. However, during my project I found out that this was not only true but also the mentality of many fellow south Asians that homosexuality is a western concepts.

Moreover, I found out that people are scared of homosexuals. They think that they are outcastes of mentally challenged people. Some also regard them as sex maniacs. I do not stand any any such concept. Being a sex maniac is a different subject altogether and a different preference doesn't make you a criminal.

The main focus of the research was understanding the popular  perceptions regarding queer sexuality prevalent in the society as well as the notions popular amongst the queer community regarding their origins, and to find out if there are any religious, mythological or social evidences that support both the theories.

This research aims at busting the myths related to the queer community and also making a clear image of this community, whatsoever. Also, i paid attention as to how has the media been portraying the two ideologies mostly through the movies and also through other television soap operas etc.

It should be mentioned that in a dynamic world, where nothing remains constant for long and in the period of globalization where a single theory is expected to be applicable to all, how far are we willing to go in the depths of the issue and not make conclusions from the crust itself.

The media, irrespective of the quality of the content, is showing matter and creating big debates over it. Is it responsible media behavior? Till date, hardly any media channel has come with a concrete view for queer identities. If we only leave a few movies made in Spanish and even fewer in English and other languages, no one really goes the distance to make it large for the queer gender.

The research will not discuss if we should come out or not. Its main aim is to show what all has been present there ever since in the society and why and age old concept of the world, is being slashed as a completely western concept, even when we know how much it has been prevalent in the east. We shall discuss over all the possible anecdotes dating back in history which talk about the queer gender and the various myths about them. Not only this, we would try to go deep in mythology and the contemporary world as well.

Queer Sexuality- Myths Busted 3

The innate tendency of defining 'normal' amongst all cultures and societies throughout the world is almost the same. What the popular worldwide culture takes as a taboo may be  a common accepted practice in certain other cultures and vice versa. So, if one has to define something as 'normal' throughout a wide array of perceptions, psychologies, norms and ideologies, he has to be very specific as to what exactly is acceptable and what is 'against nature'.

It has become a debatable issue amongst the masses as to what do we regard the queers as? Now that the queer community has come out o the closet and is openly demonstrating against the hate crimes and the situations that they have to pass through being 'queer', it has become essential for us to understand that up to what extent are all these processions and allegations justified.

It is to be noted that there are various other sexualities present in the world. Moreover, the western concept of sexual orientation comes in sharp contrast to the eastern concept of gender orientation. In such confusing times, it is not only a problem for the rest of the world but also for the queer community members to identify themselves and be able to define them as some particular gender or sexual orientation.

There has been a very vague idea about what should be defined as queer and what not.  For example, a man may define himself as straight but he may still nurture some sexual attraction for men, thereby calling him bi-curious. A great battle for identification has begun inside the queer groups.

‘Coming Out of the Closet’ has made the struggle for a separate identity fiercer and more diversified.  This research aims solely to find out what all has been lying under the rock as far as queer identities are concerned. Moreover, it also finds out how the queer identities have  been portrayed in our mythology, books and cinema.

Movies present queers, specially the homosexuals in a different light. These people have become a subject of mockery. In the recent times there have been many movies on the silver screen which presented the queers in a very degrading way and literally mocked them on screen.  

The questions that arise are:


ñ    Shall we really laugh on the person because of his sexual orientation?
ñ    Shall we treat what we are not as demented and sick?
ñ    Shall we really go forward and think that queers are not a part of the 'normal' society and are a group of sex-maniacs?

It is a matter of pity for any sensible citizen and a matter of great embarrassment for a queer. We must understand what is natural and what should not be defined as unnatural. For those of us, who can be counted in laces, who think that queer is a totally westernized concept and is polluting the thinking of the young minds here, this research would be very useful.

The report aims at finding out what does the western and non-western society think about queer sexuality. Moreover, it also focuses on the fact that not only the queer group has been present in the pop culture, but has also been portrayed likewise. I aim at making available all the contemporary and ancient details of queer that may be helpful for the readers to as far the presence of queer in the pop society is concerned.

On a personal level, learning all that these people think while being a part of their groups and trying to  understand their psyche has been an eye-opening experience. One really does not need to peek in the bedrooms of others and decide what they should be doing.

I do not aim to justify the queer movement nor does the report in anyway support the anti-queer movement. However, the report does try to find out what exactly has been the position of queer in the society then and now, and what could be done to maintain harmony between the two groups.

Queer Sexuality- Myths Busted

The concept of homosexuality is not new to the Indian society or to the world. In fact, most of the societies and cultures around the world have not only recognized but also accepted the existence of this normal human behavior.

The most important point to follow is that the media today is presenting the notion of homosexuality in contradictory terms. This makes the new and old generations question the existence and moral validity of queer sexuality in our country.

There is not one but many perceptions about homosexuality in the minds of the general public. This is mostly attributed to the presentation of this issue by the media. There have been many movies and television serials in the western world that deal with the issue of queer sexuality. Not only this, the Indian film makers also took a step forward to make movies with queer sexual as central or pivotal characters in the movies. These movies not only create d a huge hustle-bustle but also contributed a lot in making people aware of the most dormant issue in the society I.e. queer sexuality.

Moreover, in India, the debate over article 377 further ignited the issue of queer as most of the people became fully aware of what the issue is all about. However, the role of media in propagation of this issue cannot be denied, we also have to take a look at how the propagation took place. No wonders the commoners became aware of the issue, but they were not yet able to make a decision as to what is right and what is wrong. They had formed perceptions regarding the queer which were not always true.

The Atma and Nirvana- The fear of being close


many a times it has come to my notice that the people are afraid to come close to each other. Even though the natural tendencies of human nature remain that of a social animal, more and more people every day are running away from their natural want of togetherness, into closed isolated spaces that does not leave an opportunity for them to explore their true selves.
The modern life has only witnessed the evolution of a new kind of human where his ‘higher want’ of spirituality, or what I put forward as ‘atma gyan’ or self- realisation is not fulfilled.
In principle, we have always heard of the ‘atma’ or the soul to be a part of the almighty. We know that god is omnipotent and omnipresent. We know that we are an ‘ansha’ or a part of god himself. And at the end of this life we all have to go and become a part of that higher being. All the ‘anshas’ will eventually become a part of larger entity. This clearly indicates the presence of a distinct reality within us that is god himself and that god does not want food, clothing or shelter. His needs are somewhat different from our own.

This soul or ‘atma’ craves for togetherness. As the basics of chemistry teach us, the smallest individual entity , the ‘atom’ combines with more of its kind to for a molecule.
To put the want of togetherness and social contact in place, we shall now again take the path of a physical science. (note that to explain a social phenomenon too, help of a physical science has been taken which only indicates that all things are interdependent on each other.)

The smallest ‘cell’ is ‘I’ or the ‘atma’. Cells of the same kind combine to form a ‘tissue’. And various tissues again make an ‘organ’. Henceforth several organs working together, however made up with different tissues catering to different functions of life, make an ‘organism’. The science is plain and clear. A cell or an atom is nothing in itself. Though independent it needs the fulfilment of attaching itself to a group.
So, when the basic need of every one of us is to be together and to create bonds, why each being feels detached and isolated? Why does one cannot fulfil his desires? Why can one ‘atma’ find it difficult to connect to the almighty?
The answer is as simple as what we have been hearing since being born. It’s our lifestyle and more dominantly the situations that one actually forces upon himself to face without a particular reason or justification.
No wonder all of us are striving to become what we have been asked to become. In this situation, the condition becomes extremely explosive as neither the ones who obey can feel good, nor the ones who disobeyed will be left out of the punishment zone.
It all depends on how our minds have been conditioned. It is very obvious that we are told not to disobey our elders or to raise our voice against them, at the same time it is told to us not to resist anything bad or not to give up to something that is against our wishes. If both the possibilities are related and seen in just one person, whom should one choose?
In another similar example, we can have a look at how a typical ‘bahu’ is depicted in the daily soaps. We can see a nagging ‘saas’ as always. The ‘bahus’ however fall in two different categories. The first bahu is the obedient case who listens to whatever her saas tells her. She does not resist to the duty, but nevertheless feels bad for what she has to face. Even then she won’t comment or speak out because of what she has been told to do. She was brought up as not an obedient child who feels it is bad to speak against the wishes of an elder and who in turn supresses her natural revolt towards the ‘saas’ in order to maintain the peace of her family.

On the other hand we find the ‘rebellious bahu’. The one who won’t give up on her rights and the one who would speak out in case she finds injustice or prejudice covering the heart of the various family matters popping now and then. This ‘bahu’ is not liked by other members of the family openly and she has to face a literal isolation. However, from the inside everybody wants to be like her because then she acts as a vent to the other’s frustrations as well.
Basically there is no way out of being spared of that punishment. When u find that you have to choose between your happiness and the traditions, I would urge all to become what they feel they are. What good would the suppression of your small pleasures do to you.
We all are fairly ignorant creatures. Ignorance of some parts of our body, ignorance of some parts of our soul, ignorance of some part of our world. I know its too big a world to know all. But then, we can condense our concerns at least to ourselves.

why would androgyny stay? (part 2)

androgyny is all about flexibility and not about rigidity. it is a free flow of a person as he/she is and not as he/she should be. what matters the most is that if a person is comfortable in the skin that he/she is in.

in the last post we had a talk about how can a few androgynous people behave in public. there may be times when such behavior is not tolerated. specially in a society that is divided on the basis of very rigid gender roles. it may not be a very good idea for a women to have short hair, to drink and smoke. even if she does so successfully, there are ample chances that she will be taken first as a rebel and then as an easy target. yes, an easy target for jokes as well as the sexual fantasy to men who cannot enjoy her company otherwise. and this mentality, of taking and alternative lifestyle as an opposing lifestyle brings about many many complex situations to the girl.

on the other hand, in a society where 'boys  don't cry' is a ruling phrase it might be equally difficult for a man to express himself openly. if he does so, he is challenging the norms of manliness and in turn bringing shame to his people. in the end, either this male becomes an easy target again or he has to adopt a false cloak of the so-called manly attire just to fit in.

Long ago i read about sexual and asexual reproduction in the biology class. asexual reproduction, which happens in the case of division of the cell nucleus in to two or many identities is certainly not as good an option as sexual reproduction. sexual reproduction gives the species a chance to create similar organisms. yes, they are similar and not identical. which means that they can live better in case of an epidemic and at least some would have a chance to survive because of the slight difference in each one of them. hence, each generation come sup with newer combination of genes and better chances of survival.

in such cases, if i view the gender rigid society with the same spectacle, m sure that the people who can swing both ways or who are in touch with both their male and female sides have a better rate of survival as compared to those who don't. even studies have shown that there are two sides of the brain. if we use them both in proper ratios we are better off as compared to others and if if we use only one side more than the other, it is evident that we will be more confused in a perplexed situation.

The atma has nothing to do with being male or female. it is genderless, sexless, omnipotent and omnipresent. then why waste time on making differentiation according to the genitals. lets be a part of a better world.  More about the atma, in the next post.
